The Canadian dollar bucked the dollar on Monday and the benchmark government bond yield rose.

The Canadian dollar rose 0. 1% to C$1. 3531 against the greenback, or 73. 9 U. S. cents, after trading in a range of 1. 3521 to 1. 355.

Yields on 10-year Canadian government bonds rose across four base issues to 3. 587%. The yield on the benchmark U. S. government bond rose to 4. 3282%.

U. S. crude futures for April rose 38 cents to $81. 42 a barrel on Monday.
