In a recent study published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal, researchers evaluated Canada’s functionality across all coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19)-like measures in the organization of 10 peer countries (G10): France, Germany, Italy, Belgium, the Netherlands. , Sweden, Switzerland, Japan, United Kingdom and United States (US).
In this study, the authors analyzed knowledge from February 4, 2020 to February 8, 2022 from Our World in Data (OWID), the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD), the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and the International Monetary Fund.
They compared infection rates with Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), vaccination rates, excess mortality from COVID-19 and all causes, public restrictions, and the economic effect of the pandemic in Canada with G10 countries.

However, the study also highlighted the negative economic and social impact of the current COVID-19 pandemic in Canada. As a result, Canadian leaders and decision-makers deserve to do continuous knowledge collection and analysis, making strategic changes to strengthen measures and modify methods as needed.
