Sao Tome and Principe has been reinstated in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualification festival after its disqualification in a Covid-19 protocol seemed rather pleasant.

The small island country on the equator beat Mauritius 4-3 overall in an initial attack 3 months ago, but the 1-0 win in the first leg was cancelled when the losers appealed.

Mauricio claimed that Bolivian striker Luis Leal, who scored two of Sao Tome’s 4 goals in the match, presented a pcr check replaced and was not eligible to play.

Their call-up was a success and they were due to face Guinea-Bissau and Nigeria on 9 and 13 June in Group A of a festival that will offer 23 qualifiers for the mid-2023 finals in Côte d’Ivoire.

Sierra Leone is the country of the section.

Mauritian football officials have asked for a full explanation from the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and are pleasing to the Swiss-based Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS).
