Vaccination | UAB United | Resources for Managers
Vaccination Information
To comply with the federal mandates announced in 2021, UAB and UAB Medicina have implemented vaccination requirements for workers against COVID-19. However, at the end of 2021, precautionary measures were placed on all orders, and UAB and UAB Medicine temporarily suspended needs. Currently, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) requirement for health care personnel is the only one to be reinstated. Here’s where each term is located (as of January 26, 2022):
Taking those voluntary steps now will ensure (1) that our employees’ requests for medical, disability, or devotional exemptions are processed in a timely manner, and (2) that UAB can comply if injunctive relief is lifted. It also provides the UAB public with fitness and infectious disease experts with vital knowledge to advise long-term decisions related to campus protection strategies.
For more information, uab. edu/uabunited.
For the large UAB painters’ vaccination industry and much of the Birmingham community, UAB wants medical and non-clinical volunteers to help manage vaccination sites. UAB will allow the university and staff in Working Groups A and F to paint some of their normal operating hours at vaccination points.
Vaccination centers will operate from 8 a. m. to 5 p. m. , Monday through Friday, for the foreseeable future. While manager-approved paints at vaccination sites are paid at prevailing pay rates, additional manager approval will need to be sought before volunteering if the painter approaches overtime.

*For UAB workers who have received mandatory approvals to assist at vaccination sites, there are vital compliance considerations if their salary is funded, in whole or in part, through a sponsored project/GA account. It is vital to ensure that time spent attending a vaccination site is paid for with a departmental/GL account. No investment from a sponsored project/GA account can be used to cover time spent helping vaccination sites.
