Passengers arriving at Brussels airport from a domain considered to be a high-risk “red zone” through the Belgian government will soon pay for testing when the coronavirus lands.
Evidence will also be presented to tourists leaving Brussels as part of the airport’s new plans. An outdoor cellular unit will be installed from the airport terminal and is expected to be operational in early September.
Brussels Airport Company CEO Arnaud Feist said today that the effects of immediate testing for some departing passengers will occur within 3 o’clock.
The prices of the tests range from 46 euros for passengers arriving from the red zones, to 67 euros for passengers who leave opting for the normal test, which takes an average of nine hours to produce results. Passengers will be charged 135 euros for the quick option.
In recent weeks, airlines have suggested that national governments implement more airport testing to combat the COVID pandemic than the introduction of mandatory quarantines for travellers from certain countries.
They argue that airports provide consumers with confidence in this troubled sector.
According to existing rules of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, travellers arriving in Belgium from high-risk red zones, which come with regions of Spain, France and Croatia, are subject to mandatory quarantine and testing requirements.
