Britons accounted for more than 10% of home remains in Spain in October

Overnight stays in Spanish non-hotel tourist accommodation in October were 7. 3% higher than last year.

Non-residents living in homes accounted for 76. 6% of the total of more than 10 million, led by UK tourists with more than 1. 4 million overnight stays, followed by Germany with 575,139 overnight stays.

Data from the National Institute of Statistics (INE) includes apartments, campsites, rural tourism accommodations and hostels.

In the first ten months of 2023, overnight stays in Spain remain above 3. 9% compared to the same period last year.

Importantly, those figures were 4. 6% higher than in the same period in 2019, a record year before the Covid-19 pandemic.

Overnight stays by Spanish resident travellers increased by 3. 6% and those by non-residents by 9. 4%.

The average duration is about 4 nights depending on the traveler.

As for the month of October, the average duration fell by 1. 4%, to 5. 2 nights according to the traveler, according to the INE.

They reported that 35.2% of places were occupied in tourist accommodation- 0.2% more than in the same month of 2022.

The occupancy rate compatible with weekend beds was 39. 8%, up 4. 1%.
