Boris Johnson is suggested to apologize for his historical comments on the Srebrenica massacre. MS. Tony Lloyd has written to the Prime Minister, with more than 30 multi-party parliamentarians, asking him to apologize for his 1997 comments on the genocide, before his 25th birthday tomorrow.
Johnson wrote: “Okay, I mean, Srebrenica’s fate is terrible. But they weren’t exactly angels, those Muslims.”
In July 1995, 8,000 men and boys, most commonly Muslim, were taken by Serbian forces to a “safe enclave” of Srebrenica through Dutch peacekeepers and killed. Lloyd said:
As we commemorate the 25th anniversary of the atrocity, it is unthinkable that you would publicly attend national memorial events without having apologised for such comments.
There can be no excuse for in any way blaming the victims of a genocide for its perpetration, not even for a prime minister.
Meanwhile, attending such occasions without thinking about your past comments is an insult to patients and their families who continue to suffer the consequences to this day.
Moreover, given his long and vital history of racist, Islamophobic and harmful statements, his comments on Srebrenica cannot be a remote incident. »»

I think everyone has selected “Stay home if you can” … I think we deserve to say now, well, ‘go back to the paintings if you can’. Because I think it’s very important for other people to visit their lives more normally.
