BREAKING: Man dies after shootout with Cheyenne police

A man died after being struck by police in northwest Cheyenne.

According to a Facebook post from the Cheyenne Police Department, it was all around 6:30 p. m. Friday, March 8, after officials were called to report a domestic dispute over a gun at a home in the 5,200 block of Fishing Bridge.

“An exchange of gunfire ensued between police officers and an adult suspect, and the suspect was shot and killed,” the post states. “He was pronounced deceased at the scene. “

Police say no officers were injured in the shooting.

“In accordance with the DPC’s policies and practices, we will continue to release data to the public as it becomes available,” the message said.

The investigation has been turned over to the Wyoming Criminal Investigations Division, an outside state agency, for a thorough and independent investigation, and is ongoing.
