SAO PAULO (AP) – The referee of Thursday’s Copa Libertadores clash between Racing Argentina and Uruguay’s National was replaced after positive for COVID-19.
The South American football conmebol said on Wednesday that Brazilian Anderson Daronco and his assistants Fabr-cio Vilarinho, Bruno Arleu and Rafael Alves would remain remote for 14 days, as advised through Argentine fitness protocols.
Conmebol said they were all asymptomatic when the tests were done on Sunday.
Daronco will be replaced by Chilean Cristian Garay, who originally planned to paint in some other Copa Libertadores in Argentina between Defensa y Justicia and Delfion de Ecuador.
The Copa Libertadores resumed on Tuesday after a six-month hiatus due to the pandemic. Today, Brazil, Peru, Colombia and Argentina are among the 10 most sensitive countries in the world in terms of shown cases of the disease.
