The first COVID-19 vaccines for children between the ages of five and 11 arrived in Brazil on Thursday (13 January) morning. A shipment with 1. 2 million doses of Pfizer’s vaccine was unloaded at the Viracopos airport in Campinas, São Paulo, and will be distributed to all Brazilian states, according to Brazil’s Ministry of Health.
Brazil will receive a total of 4. 3 million doses of pediatric vaccine in January, 7. 2 million in February and 8. 4 million in March, for a total of just about 20 million doses, in the first quarter of 2022, a ministry said.
Last week, Brazil’s ministry announced the inclusion of pediatric vaccines in the National Immunization Program (PNI). In order to receive the vaccine, youth must be accompanied by their parents or guardians or present written permission. This age organization will get two doses, eight weeks apart.
