The Covid-19 smartphone app backed by the Brazilian federal government has been updated with the Apple-Google exposure notification. The feature is now available to approximately 10 million users of the coronavirus application submitted through the Ministry of Health (MoH) as a source of data on the pandemic.
The launch of the application follows the trials carried out through the generation branch of the Ministry of Health Datasus, which began in June. According to the Ministry of Health, only the federal government will be able to use the generation of exposure notifications in Brazil.
Google and Apple announced their joint effort around the exposure notification generation framework in May to tell someone they would possibly have been exposed to the virus. The tool, followed in countries such as Italy and Uruguay, is through the Brazilian government’s fitness to be a vital detail in the slowdown in the spread of Covid-19, as the virus can spread asymptomatically.
Available on Android or Apple devices, the app compiles and encrypts Covid-19’s anonymous knowledge and positive case reports to inform app users when they are within 1 to 2 meters of others carrying the virus for more than five minutes, Bluetooth under Energy. Notifications only appear between users who have installed the official Covid-19 app.
According to the Brazilian authorities, special emphasis was placed on the privacy and security facets of the new exposure notification feature. In the process, non-public information, such as the call or phone number, existing location, or identity details, is not disclosed.
To ensure that only real instances are reported in the app, the new feature is connected to a virtual token issued through the Ministry of Health, which refers to the validation of positive Covid-19 tests. Before generating the token, the government crosses the review and records of e-SUS Notifies, a platform used through fitness professionals to record displayed and suspicious instances and the National Health Data Network, which also collects data on the fitness of Brazilian patients.
Users will get a notification if they have been in contact with someone who has inflamed at some point in the last 14 days, however the data will not come with any express information about the precise date of the meeting. Knowledge can only be held in the app for a period of 14 days.
The alert will also mention that the notification is a preventive measure and that the reported user will not necessarily have Covid-19, but will need to be aware of the symptoms. The app also warns users about the dangers of fake news and that users are aware of any data that arrives by email, phone or SMS, as notifications will only be located within the app.
