LA PAZ (Reuters) – Bolivia’s government said on Wednesday it would suspend exports of food products, adding soy and beef, amid protests in the key agricultural region of Santa Cruz.
This resolution aims to maintain food security in Bolivia, said the Minister of Productive Development and Plural Economy, Néstor Huanca, adding that the suspension of exports will fear soybeans, soybean meal, soybean meal, sugar, oil and beef.
“This measure applies from October 27, 2022 until the situations of general source for the entire Bolivian population are restored,” he said at a press conference.
Leftist President Luis Arce has faced protests across the country. Earlier Wednesday, his government reached an agreement with gold mining cooperatives to end protests in the administrative capital La Paz.
