(Reuters) – Boeing Co CEO Dave Calhoun said on Wednesday he was convinced that the door plug issue that has sparked a safety and quality crisis at the planemaker was “completely under control.”

In an interview with CNBC, Calhoun also apologized to United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby after the airline’s more level-headed boss earlier this month called the partial grounding of the 737 MAX nine “the straw that broke the camel’s back. “

“I’m going to go to work and our team is going to meet with Kirby,” Calhoun added.
