Blip Roasters has re-entered the West Bottoms community of Kansas City, Missouri, opening a multifaceted, toasted café.
In a 19,000-square-foot area in the business district that Blip has aligned itself so closely with since its launch six years ago, Blip’s new location also includes a motorcycle accessories store, a screen printing operation, a convention hall. and an office. To rent.
Arriving at the end of August, the opening represents a remarkable achievement for the KC-born toaster company, which has controlled a number of unfortunate occasions over the more than five years.
Blip’s original toast at West Bottoms was destroyed through the fireplace in early 2016, just a few months after Blip opened his first coffee there. Thanks to public donations, the company was able to recover the coins and reopen at West Bottoms in the spring of 2016. In early 2019, Blip opened a momentary coffee in 30 and Troost.
Then came 2020, and you know what happened when the consequences of the COVID-19 pandemic wreaked havoc on the company, Blip Roasters founder Ian Davis took what he described to The Kansas City Business as the overwhelming resolve to fire and close the business. .
“After arguing with staff, Blip closed any of the sites in mid-March, before the city-wide shelter mandates,” Danna Suellentrop, Blip’s leading operations officer, told the Daily Coffee News. “All of our staff, small but excellent, Troost’s site was permanently shut down and the goal was to reopen the West Bottoms site when government orders were lifted and staff thought they should return to work.
Suellentrop, the goal had long been to open a larger West Bottoms site, and the forced pause due to the pandemic gave time to do so.
Now reallocated and operating within extensive commercial excavations, Blip offers a full range of uniquely sourced mixed coffee drinks along with drip coffees, while a new tap formula provides iced coffee, shell tea, a homemade milk coffee with oat milk and a dairy-free rotary. Latte. Array that, to this day, a latte with almond milk and cinnamon.
Coffees for those drinks, orders, and wholesale consumers come from a three-person team that monitors a U. S. device. Roaster Corp. de 5 kilograms on site.
“The focus has been on buying sweeter coffees,” Suellentrop said of Blip’s complex sourcing approach. “Over the years, we have had the privilege of our coffee purchasing force to marry a small circle of family farms linked to Kansas City. , we are starting a collaboration with the family circle of the Doa Fina estate in Quezaltepeque, Guatemala. »
Brimming with raw industrialism, the interior of the new boutique showcases the integrated aesthetic while providing traditional artwork, a giant Blip logo and traditional lighting and surfaces, such as the most sensitive wooden bar made through a West Bottoms carpenter. These elements emerge from the chevrons, exposed on the barrel ceiling and from the walls of cement blocks.
The commercial feel also complements the company’s look of motorcycle accessories and outfits, which emerged from Davis’ non-public passions and a network of motorcyclists who began appearing in the store on Sunday morning, a culture that has continued over the years.
Blip is now an authorized store for Bell and Bilt helmets and equipment, as is Rev’it apparel. Suellentrop said: “Before the pandemic, we organized rides, exhibitions, competitions, new motorcycle versions with Triumph and Royal Enfield, and race tracking nights. “
One day, such parties might be a thing again, but for now, Blip bets on him to protect his staff and guests, Suellentrop said. Due to the security protocols of the house, lately the giant area only has seats for seven, while you must have a tracking service and a mask is required. Suellentrop noted that Blip baristas have taken coffee-specific signal language education to better talk to deaf or hard-to-hear consumers.
Suellentrop added that as the pandemic subsides (hopefully), Blip plans to expand his food operations, screen print internally and host larger events.
Blip Roasters is now open at 1301 Woodswether at The West Bottoms in Kansas City.
