Portland Trail Blazers center grandmother Hana died in Bosnia less than two weeks after telling reporters that she was COVID-19 and in a coma.
On Saturday, before the Blazers played in Memphis in the nba’s first game, he posted an Instagram photo of himself with his grandmother with the words “#ripgrandma” and “#loveyou.” In a rough translation, he wrote: “We are all for Allaah and we return to Him.”

Nurkic told reporters last July that he had not gambled because of his grandmother’s condition and the pandemic caused by the virus.
“The last two days have been the hardest days of my life,” he said. “I think other people don’t realize that (the virus) is real. We were lucky enough to be here in an environment. We get tested every day, but take care, wear a mask if you have to wear that.
She said she learned of her condition from a FaceTime call before she went into a coma. In early August, she said she had come out of the coma and stepped forward in her condition.
Nurkic stands out for the Blazers in the reboot. He missed all of this season’s games until March 11 while recovering from a sustained left tibia and fibula fracture at the end of the 2018–19 season.
He helped the Blazers make the opening game, averaging 17.6 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists and 1.4 steals.
