Black Friday’s beer sales continue COVID, but Lakefront Brewery’s annual party canceled

Lakefront Brewery Tuesday there will be no Black Friday pickup at the brewery for the first time since 2011.

The 5,000 bottles from the age of 2020 will be distributed at milwaukee-area liquor outlets: outlets such as Otto’s, Discount Liquor, Total Wine and more.

For many, the annual tour of the brewery, 1872 N. Commerce St. , the day after Thanksgiving, is a tradition. Art Chavez and his friends planned to snuggle up as opposed to bloodless beers in the Lakefront brewery parking lot as they do. every year.

But 2020 is no other year. COVID-19 protection regulations cried over the Black Friday beer party since Lakefront Brewery presented its barrel-aged beers and stopped calling nine years ago.

“We are doing our best to keep COVID at bay and do smart work,” Lakefront President and Founder Russ Klisch said in a statement. “That’s why we shouldn’t throw a party with a few thousand of our friends. Black Friday at your favorite stores, and next year we will again enjoy a wonderful outing to the brewery. “

Lakefront beers are: Black Friday Imconsistent withial Stout of 2020, Lakefront’s largest black bourbon beer year-round with 14. 2% alcohol consistent with Black Friday Barleywine 2020 volume, aged in bourbon kegs since February for an ABV of 14. 9%; and Black Friday Christmas Ale 2020, a blend of spices aged in Wollersheim brandy barrels with 13% alcohol.

Retailers will sell 3,000 bottles of Black Friday 2019.

Other craft breweries plan to take credit for the tasty black Friday culture by volume, releasing more than one beer flavor, ranging from a classic imperial black beer to one that mimics that of fruitcake to one that has an ABV greater than 20%. Some use pre-orders to discourage long lines.

Other breweries, such as Black Husky Brewing, will not participate. “We are not comfortable organizing beer outings or occasions that inspire giant gatherings or others queuing,” co-owner Toni Eichinger said.

As for Chavez and his friends, they plan to stick to tradition: “We will meet and start early in the morning, make a bonfire, make some spice and share the percentage of our own bottle,” he said.

These Milwaukee-area breweries will host an edition of black Friday’s annual beer extravaganza, some on Thanksgiving Eve; otherwise, the occasions will take place on November 27.
