July 24 (UPI) – President Joe Biden is “feeling much, much better” after testing positive for COVID-19, White House coronavirus reaction coordinator Ashish Jha said Sunday.
“I consulted with your overdue team last night. He felt smart. He had a smart day yesterday. You have a viral syndrome, an upper respiratory tract infection matrix. . . and he’s doing very well. So we didn’t get any updates this morning, but until last night it felt much, much better,” Jha said.
“So it’s the BA. 5 variant, which accounts for about 80 percent of infections,” Jha said. “But thank God, our vaccines and treatments are well opposed to that, so I think the president is fine. “
“It’s probably the result of lymphoid activation as your body clears the virus, so it’s encouraging,” he said. “His rhinorrhea, cough and body aches have decreased considerably.
The doctor added that Biden will continue to isolate himself according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Guidelines in his recovery.
“I know he’s working, because on Thursday I was called from the White House about anything related to transportation that he had asked me to track,” Buttigieg said. “So I can’t wait to be back in a room with him and I openly wish him a quick return one hundred percent. “
Jha said the White House would “absolutely” continue to reveal that Biden “had long-term symptoms of this infection. “
