Biden continues to fight COVID-19 and remains out of the public eye after ending his 2024 campaign

WASHINGTON (AP) — President Joe Biden’s “symptoms have all but disappeared” from COVID-19, according to his doctor, as the president remained out of public view for the fifth straight day Monday.

Biden announced he was ending his re-election crusade in a letter posted on social media on Sunday. He also announced on Sunday that he supports Vice President Kamala Harris.

The president last saw him in public Wednesday night after arriving at a U. S. air base in Dover, Delaware, after testing positive for COVID-19 while campaigning in Las Vegas earlier that day. He then marched to his vacation home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. .

Biden’s doctor, Dr. Kevin O’Connor, said the president finished his tenth dose of the anti-Covid drug Paxlovid on Monday morning and continued to fulfill all of his presidential duties.

“His symptoms have almost certainly disappeared. “His pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature remain almost certainly normal,” O’Connor wrote. “His oxygen saturation is still in ambient air. His lungs remain clean.

Biden won separate briefings Monday from National Security Advisor Liz Sherwood-Randall and National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan at the White House. Both briefings were held virtually.

Biden’s public agfinisha during the week has remained transparent as he recovers from the virus, however, he said in his Sunday letter that he plans to deliver an address to the country this week to talk about his resolve to end his candidacy.

Biden also plans to meet with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House this week, according to a user familiar with the president’s schedule who is not authorized to comment publicly.
