There are many decisions more important than choosing the right hospital to care for you or a loved one.
To help you out, Newsweek has partnered with Statista for its annual rating of the world’s most productive hospitals, a series that began in March 2019. This year’s list includes data on 2,400 hospitals in 30 countries. For the first time, Chile and Malaysia have been added to the ranking, which also includes the United States, the top of Western Europe and Scandinavia, 10 Asian countries, Australia and other countries in the Americas.
The data is organized by country, but it also lists the top 250 hospitals in the world, adding the top 10 that we highlighted, especially their desirable use of artificial intelligence to advance medical discoveries.
Each hospital’s score is based on an online survey of more than 85,000 medical experts and can be publicly known from post-hospitalization patient surveys of their overall satisfaction. The score also takes into account metrics such as hygiene and patient-to-physician ratio. , as well as a Statista survey on whether hospitals use patient-reported outcome measures (PROMs), which are standardized questionnaires that patients complete to assess their experience and outcomes.
Given the magnitude of what is at stake for Americans and institutions, reliable knowledge is essential. Newsweek-Statista’s ratings provide insights for patients, families, and healthcare leaders looking for profiles from an industry that will generate $4. 24 trillion globally by 2024.
