ROME – Former Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, who tested positive for COVID-19 this week, has an early lung infection but breathes only after being hospitalized in Milan and not intubated, his private doctor said Friday.
Alberto Zangrillo, who is also part of the staff of The San Raffaele Hospital, where Berlusconi was taken early in the day, told reporters that the effects of the check were reassuring and “makes us optimistic” about the recovery of the 83-year-old business magnate in the next “hours.”and days.”
“I can say now, clearly, through you in the eye, that clinical indications, backed by diagnostic tests, are soothing, comforting” in relation to Berlusconi’s condition,” the doctor said.
Zangrillo said he had examined Berlusconi at home a day earlier and that it had been more productive to hospitalize him after detecting “soft lung damage.”

But Zangrillo, answering questions from journalists, called the lung challenge a “early lung infection.”He said Berlusconi is connected to a ventilator but “breathes spontaneously.”

Zangrillo is guilty of intensive care and anesthesiology at San Raffaele Hospital, however, Zangrillo says his patient is not in extensive care.
Instead, Berlusconi would have been in a sixth-floor segment of the hospital reserved for VIPs, where he had been several times in recent years for past medical problems.
Sky TG24, reporting from outside the hospital, said Berlusconi had been given oxygen to help him breathe, but Zangrillo did not mention it.
Sky also stated that he had arrived by car and had entered the hospital.
On Thursday, Berlusconi, speaking loudly but nasally from his property on the outskirts of Milan, told his followers via an audio connection that he no longer had a fever or pain.
Italian media reported that two of his adult sons, with which he recently spent time on the island of Capri, had recently been diagnosed with COVID-19.Berlusconi’s partner, a young woman who in the past worked in the workplace of the football team she once owned, was also positive for the virus.
When asked if any circle of family members had been hospitalized, Zangrillo said no.
Berlusconi referred to himself and his circle of relatives when he spoke about COVID-19 in comments to the Italian newspaper La Stampa on Thursday: “Unfortunately, it is not an inscrulent Array …Now I realize more than ever how serious” the pandemic is.”

After coming positive for the virus this week, Berlusconi promised to continue campaigning for Forza Italia, the centre-right party he founded more than 25 years ago, ahead of the upcoming regional elections.
He has lost popularity among the Italian electorate in recent years while struggling with legal disorders similar to his media empire and his famous bunga bunga parties with young women.
