In statements to the media following a phone call with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, von der Leyen said the problems of “fair play, governance and fishing” still prevented an agreement, but both sides were willing to continue negotiations.
“We agreed that it is worth undertaking additional effort through our negotiating groups to assess whether possible, such disorders can be resolved. So we ask our leading negotiators to meet in Brussels and I will talk to Prime Minister Boris Johnson about Monday night,” von der Leyen said.
The talks stalled on Friday as neither side managed to break the impasse in negotiations on post-Brexit industrial agreements.
