Belarusian company seeks to export blueberries to Kazakhstan

BREST, October 25 (BelTA) – OAO Polesskiye Zhuraviny is the option for exporting blueberries to Kazakhstan, BelTA learned from the company’s director Vasily Lyagusky.

The blueberry harvest began at the end of September and is now complete. Unfortunately, this year is less than last season. The plants were adversely affected by the winter thaw and summer drought. Agronomists are responding to climate substitution and farming technologies, Lyagusky said.

“We used to get hand-picked blueberries in the UK. Now we export to Russia. Prices are lower, there are no disorders with the sale. We are exploring the eastern markets, especially Kazakhstan. The Chinese market. But, more importantly, we are consolidating our presence in the domestic market: the sale of new and processed blueberries,” said Vasily Lyagusky.

This year, OAO Polesskiye Zhuraviny harvested 210 tons of blueberries, more than last year. For the first time, the company had a harvest of blackcurrant. Its cultivation began two years ago. Initially, the company planted 7 hectares, but plans to build the domain. “Next year we will have an industrial-scale harvest. We will build the domain to the optimal size, depending on the sales markets. Then we’ll see if I want to multiply by two or three,” Vasily Lyagusky said.

The company has been developing Japanese quince for five years. The crop occupies 5. 5 hectares. ” This begins to bear fruit until the third year. Based on the fact that we have internal processing capabilities, quince cultivation is justified,” Vasily Lyagusky added. By the way, the corporate has implemented a complete cycle of berry processing.

OAO Polesskiye Zhuraviny was established on the basis of Pinsk blueberry planting. The company is owned by the Pinsk District Municipality. Il grows berries, harvests wild berries and mushrooms. 0-
