Belarus welcomes UNHCR’s contribution to joint paintings on refugee rights

MINSK, thirteen October (BelTA) – The Permanent Representative of the Republic of Belarus to the United Nations Office at Geneva, Larisa Belskaya, spoke at the 73rd consultation of UNHCR’s Executive Committee, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Office in Geneva.

“Belarus greatly appreciates UNHCR’s efforts and contribution to joint foreign work to ensure the rights of refugees and others in incredibly vulnerable settings. Unfortunately, the existing scenario in many parts of the world does not allow for a relief in the number of other people. forced to cross foreign borders, fearing for their lives and seeking good enough life situations and the longevity of their children. The reasons for this are wars and conflicts, herbal bugs and climate change, as well as growing inequalities between South and North, Belskaya said.

According to Larisa Belskaya, all this not only hinders sustainable development, but also forces a large number of people to leave their countries and homes.

“Without addressing the root causes, we will never solve the refugee problem. That is why, for more than five years, Belarus has been selling the initiative of a comprehensive security dialogue, in which countries and, above all, major powers can agree. build constructive foreign relations,” said the Permanent Representative of Belarus.

Larisa Belskaya under pressure that the global deterioration of the food security situation, especially in emerging countries, is one thing causing an increasing number of refugees. The sanctions policy, which is increasingly used as a political tool of inter-State relations across many developed countries, also has a negative effect on food security issues.

The unilateral termination, for political reasons, of several years of effective cooperation between the competent agencies of neighbouring countries also does not solve refugee problems.
