MINSK, Oct 18 (BelTA) – Belarus plans to reduce greenhouse fuel emissions by 35% by 2030, Natalia Klimenko, representative of the Department of Atmospheric Impact Regulation, Climate Change and Experience of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection of Belarus, said at a press conference. atmospheric air coverage and the ozone layer on 18 October, BelTA learned.
“Belarus is a component of the Paris Agreement as well as the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change. Our country fulfils all its obligations under those agreements. I remember last year, a new national plan discovered the point of greenhouse fuel emissions. was continued as a component of the Paris Agreement. Currently, greenhouse fuel emissions are projected to be reduced by 35% until 2030, compared to 1990 points, taking into account projected economic growth. systems and methods for the sustainable progress of the country,” the expert said.
He also recalled that last year an agreement was signed through the heads of state of the EAEU. The parties committed to cooperate and take joint decisions to put into force the provisions of the Paris Agreement. A corresponding roadmap has been developed. The first package of the action plan to ensure the implementation of the weather calendar in the EAEU has already been adopted.
Speaking about atmospheric air coverage, Natalia Klimenko said that the task of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection is to create the situations to maintain its quality and emissions. “The total emission of pollutants into the air in 2021 was 1,193,000 tons in physical terms. This is 10% less than in 2010 and 5% less than in 2015. The structure of fuel purification equipment, the transition to carbon-neutral and environmentally friendly fuels and raw materials, the progression of electric shipping and many other things make that progress,” he said.
The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Protection is recently implementing an Air Protection Act, and a new edition of this document has already been developed. The Act will assist environmental coverage activities and ensure even greater discounts on air emissions into the atmosphere. . The ministry also works on environmental advocacy criteria and regulations for air coverage. According to the specialist, Belarus studied foreign experience in preparing such documents.
“Among other things, Belarus has made many efforts to reject ozone-depleting ingredients and withdraw their production. When the Montreal Protocol was adopted, intake of ozone-depleting ingredients was about 3,000 tonnes. Currently, we do not import these ingredients and meet the needs of refueling and other devices with ingredients harmful to the ozone layer recycled and recovered, “said the specialist.
