MOSCOW (AP) – Belarus plans to conduct a trial on another hundred people of the Russian COVID-19 vaccine, the Ministry of Fitness said Thursday, adding that potential participants can now apply online at 8 local clinics that have decided to conduct the trial.
The trial, one of many that Russia hopes to conduct abroad, is still awaiting regulatory approval, the ministry said, adding that it had won documents from Russia and under review.
Large-scale trials of the Sputnik-V vaccine, such as Phase III trials, are underway in Russia and involve at least 40,000 people. The first effects are expected in October or November, said Kirill Dmitriev, director of the Russian Direct Investment Fund. (RDIF).
Pending approval by national regulators, these trials can also be conducted in India in collaboration with the pharmaceutical company Dr. Reddy’s and in the state of Bahia in Brazil (report via Anton Kolodyazhnyy and Polina Ivanova; written through Alexander Marrow; edited through Hugh Lawson)
