The same week that so-called Democratic candidate Joe Biden officially canceled his goal of delivering a speech at the milwaukee conference, the Democratic National Convention Committee spotted three COVID-19 cases on the site.
“As the tests increased this week, our formula detected 3 instances that were reported to the Department of Health and told to self-isolate,” a conference assistant told the Daily Beast. The assistant showed that these other people had tested positive.
Officials interested in conference plans say that the resolution of not animating site speeches is not directly similar to the effects of positive testing there. But they said the tests highlighted the dangers inherent in organizing a conference in the middle of a pandemic.
“The explanation for why they told other people not to do it is because we were talking to fitness officials. And once fitness officials told us the pandemic was getting worse, we heard them,” said a senior DNC official.
For months, organizers had been holding back the option of Biden addressing a crowd in Wisconsin, even as they reduced their plans for a classic conference there.
But on Wednesday, Democratic National Committee Chairman Tom Perez and convention executive director Joe Solmonese issued a pronouncement of the resolution to become completely virtual, posing a constant preference for sticking to the same clinical and public aptitude criteria they have maintained as vital everywhere. The set said the resolution was “to avoid jeopardizing the suitability of our host network, as well as convention production teams, security officials, network partners, media and others needed to orchestrate the event.”
“While we must be able to move forward welcoming the enchanting city of Milwaukee to the world in two weeks, we recognize that protecting the suitability of our host network and everyone involved in this conference will have to be paramount,” Solmonese said.
On Thursday afternoon, discussions began in Democratic circles that a user running to gather the conference site had tested positive for COVID. A well-informed source within the DNC said there were discussions between some party presidents and delegates about the event imaginable.
In an attempt to reach an agreement amid a pandemic, the conference planners had put in place what they called a “series of protocols designed to lessen the threat of disease spread.” Among the dozens of pre-purchases indexed on the committee’s website, Milwaukee outdoor participants were “encouraged” to go through previous tests and were asked to submit “a test that showed negative,” the DNCC formula upon arrival. In addition, the rules established that participants must “isolate themselves for at least 72 hours prior to their departure to Milwaukee or their first access to the fitness and conference protection zone” and wear a mask when traveling to the city and “at any time when they are outdoors in their hotel or apartment room in the Milwaukee area.”
Convention participants were also required to undergo the test. Array stays at least two meters away and conducts a complete survey in which they pledged not to show symptoms or have not been in contact with someone who has been shown to have the virus.
The convention attendee said they began initial verification of COVID-19 last week, adhering to their own reported protection rules as the bodies continued to increase in some parts of the country. The assistant stated that, first, they had gained two “equivocal control effects” indicating the possible presence of COVID. Subsequent checks finally made us think that these effects were false positives. After that, all three showed positive cases emerged.
“The protocol we have in operation is working,” the convention assistant said. “It has been set up to temporarily identify cases, before they come in or in contact with others and spread widely.”
