Baseball legend David Ortiz admitted on Friday that he had Covid-19.
Ortiz told New England Sports Network (NESN) advertisers the major league game between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees.
“Yes, man, I just realized. I just got my last check yesterday. Thank God, I dialed negative,” Ortiz said, adding that he was asymptomatic and didn’t fight too hard.
“My brother lived badly, had to stay in the hospital for about a week. He ended up losing about 25 pounds and, man, that’s not a joke,” he said. “You don’t realize how crazy he is until he touches the house. “
On Friday, the United States reported 6. 7 million Cases of Covid-19 and more than 198,000 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University’s case count.
Ortiz’s bout with Covid-19 comes more than a year after he was shot and killed in the Dominican Republic, he was under extensive care for nearly two weeks and returned home in July 2019.
