Bangladesh train crash leaves 17 dead, at least 100 injured

At least 17 other people were killed and more than 100 injured after two trains collided in Bangladesh.

The incident occurred in the town of Bhairab when a loading exercise collided with a passenger exercise, causing two carriages to derail.

Bhairab Managing Director Sadiqur Rahman Sabuj said the death toll is expected to rise as rescuers continue to recover bodies from derailed carriages.

Rescuers at the scene said they may still see bodies trapped underneath the overturned train.

Monday’s incident was around 3:30 p. m. (local time).
