“Bangladesh can use Saudi aid to meet energy needs”

Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen said (October 26, 2022) that Bangladesh desires a brotherly gesture from Saudi Arabia to fulfill its power wishes amid disruptions in emerging fuel sources and costs amid the Russian-Ukrainian war.

He suggested Saudi Arabia take a look at an imaginable Saudi investment in the LNG sector.

Momen made the call when the Saudi ambassador to Bangladesh, Essa Yousef Essa Alduhailan, called him to the Foreign Ministry.

In response, the Saudi envoy said he would speak to the relevant Saudi stakeholders.

During the meeting, they discussed and tested the problems of existing and long-term investment initiatives, adding electric power and renewable energy, and new proposals under the attention of Saudi Arabia in Bangladesh.

Momen said his ministry is in a position to move forward on any Saudi-looking issues or proposals to move things forward.

The Saudi envoy to the minister on the upcoming assembly of the Joint Economic Commission to be held on October 30-31 in Riyadh.

He also briefed the minister on the prestige of the arrival of Saudi Arabia’s Deputy Interior Minister in Dhaka in the week of November.

The Minister for Foreign Affairs expressed his readiness and full cooperation to make the stopover in the country fruitful.

The Saudi ambassador under pressure wants the minister to make a decision to Saudi Arabia that is overdue.
