Bahrain-Saudi non-oil industry up 43% in Q3

Dubai: Non-oil industry between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain rose 43% to $688. 4 million in the third quarter of 2020, following the easing of restrictions on the transit of goods on the King Fahd road in August.

Saudi Arabia is one of Bahrain’s main trading partners, and most imports and exports pass by king fahd road, a 25 km bridge connecting the two countries by road. Last year, the same period, industry between Saudi Arabia and Bahrain was valued at just $481 million.

The bridge “acts as an important link between Bahrain and the Gulf economy of $1. 5 trillion in the broadest sense for millions of passengers and advertising trucks per year,” Abdulhakim Al Shamary, a board member of the Bahrain Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI), said in a statement.

The bilateral industry between the two countries jumped 12% above the $2 billion mark in the first 3 quarters of 2020 to record a truly extensive year-over-year accumulation of $1. 93 billion in 2019.

“Despite COVID-19, advertising drivers have been able to use the bridge allowing critical continuity for the logistics sector,” Al Shamary said.
