PARIS – A Pakistani man accused of stabbing the former Paris offices of the satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo twice in the open is charged with terrorism.
The suspect told investigators that he acted angry at the caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad republished through the weekly.
The investigating judges charged him with initial fees for “attempted murder in connection with a terrorist company,” according to the counter-terrorism prosecutor’s office. He will remain in detention pending further investigation. The suspect’s relatives and affiliates were released.

PARIS, France – A loud noise that caused panic in Paris caused a sound explosion when an army plane broke the speed of sound, police in the French capital said.
“A loud noise was heard in Paris and the Paris region. It’s not an explosion, it’s a fighter jet breaking through the sound wall,” Paris police said on their Twitter account, urging others to avoid calling emergency phone lines.
The noise, which spread across the city and shook the windows, shook the already agitated Parisians after an open-air knife attack in the former offices of satirical weekly Charlie Hebdo last week that the government called an act of terror.
Wednesday’s incident caused confusion, and others asked questions on social media about a noise that was heard throughout the city without leaving signs of damage.
Last Friday, two other people were injured in the knife attack through a guy wising a butcher’s knife outside Charlie Hebdo’s former offices in central Paris.
