(Reuters) – Two members of the Atletico Madrid team who will travel to Portugal for the Champions League quarter-finals tested positive for COVID-19, La Liga club said Sunday.
The other two people who have returned positive effects are isolated at home. The club did not reveal the identity of those who tested positive and did not check if there was a player involved.
“Yesterday, Saturday, August 8, all the members of the first team and the itinerant organization of the Lisbon club were subjected to TestArray … in accordance with UEFA’s protocol to participate in the Champions League quarter-finals,” Atletico said in a statement.
Today two positive effects have emerged between the known effects, which are now remote in their respective houses and have been reported to the Spanish and Portuguese fitness authorities, UEFA, the Royal Spanish Football Federation, the Portuguese Federation and the Superior Sports Council.
Atletico proved that the entire team will be tested before the team can play on Thursday in the quarter-finals against RB Leipzig in Lisbon.
