At least dead, 6 hospitalized after stampede in concert in Guatemala

GUATEMALA CITY (AP) — At least nine other people were killed in a stampede during a rock concert in the western Guatemalan town of Quetzaltenango, emergency facilities said Thursday.

Two 12-year-old boys were among the dead, according to Maria del Carmen Sajquim, a spokeswoman for Guatemala’s Western Regional Hospital.

Six other people were injured, he added.

The injured were taken to hospital and reportedly suffered fractures, firefighters said earlier on Twitter.

Witnesses at the scene said the event only had two exits.
