ARLINGTON, Va. – Arlington County is partnering with the Virginia Emergency Management Decomposer to expand facilities to communities that have been disproportionately affected by COVID-19, the disease related to the new coronavirus. This initiative is a component of the State Fitness Equity Pilot program.
As a component of the program, Arlington Public Schools will distribute about 11,000 fitness kits to students and their families, according to a county statement, which will include hand sanitist, reusable mask, and multilingual data on COVID-19 services, such as rent and food aid.
Arlington County will also extend the opening hours of its Arlington Mill Community Center verification site. Starting Monday, the site will offer evening hours, starting at 1 p. m. 7 p. m. , at the time and fourth Monday of the month. In addition, the site will be open on the first Saturday of the month from 8 a. m. 12 p. m.

The county will also distribute facial and fabric awning equipment and organize day trials.
The Virginia Department of Health reported Thursday of a new death from COVID-19, the disease related to the new coronavirus, in the Arlington Health District, and the most recent death reported Saturday. The district is 144.
VDH reported 8 new cases of coronavirus on Thursday, compared to 23 new cases reported Wednesday, bringing the total number of cases shown to 3687.

There were 19 outbreaks in the Arlington Health District on Thursday, with 1,113 outbreaks related to Arlington with two outbreaks at a network facility and 3 outbreaks in physical care facilities. 207 cases of coronavirus have been reported in Arlington involving physical care workers.
