The average number of COVID cases in Los Angeles County has nearly doubled since the first week of July, leading to a surge in hospitalizations, fitness officials said.
Richard Espiritu, a Burbank airport worker, told KCAL on Wednesday that he used his equipment as cases increased.
“I use it all the time to be safe,” he said.
Despite the upward trend in cases, fitness officials have said nearly the entire U. S. population has some immunity to the virus. Doctors added that many patients would experience milder symptoms if they applied it.
“There’s a new vaccine coming out this fall,” said Dr. Dawn Terashita of the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health.
He added that other people stay home if they are sick, wash their hands and cough.
