Archaeologists notice 27 ancient coffins buried in Egypt for 2500 years

Archaeologists have discovered 27 sarcophaguses that were buried more than 2500 years ago in Egypt.

Thirteen sarcophagus were discovered before this month, but another 14 followed, authorities said.

The discovery in Saqqarah, an ancient cemetery in Egypt, is through experts to be the largest of its kind.

“Early studies imply that these coffins are absolutely closed and have not been opened since they were buried,” Egypt’s Ministry of Antiquities said on a Saturday (local time).

The Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, Dr. Khaled Al-Anani, first delayed the announcement of the discovery until he himself visited the site, where he thanked the staff there for running into difficult situations while respecting COVID-19 precautionary measures. .

The ministry hopes to “reveal more secrets of this revelation” and announce its main points at a later press convention.
