“Since the beginning of the pandemic, United Way has been one of the agencies at the forefront of helping the entire Coachella Valley recover,” said Kristal Granados, executive director of the United Way of the Desert.
Being part of the valley for more than 50 years has allowed the local United Way to perceive the wishes of its community, which has led it to be proactive in the face of the pandemic.
As part of its early efforts, the nonprofit joined network components to provide emergency rental assistance to valley citizens. Seeing that emergency rental assistance has become available on a large scale, the organization turned around and created its COVID-19 recovery fund. .
“Because of the relationship we have with our Coachella Valley, we had a deep understanding of the effect of the pandemic on residents,” Granados said.
In addition to this program, United Way of the Desert provides another bureaucracy of assistance to the citizens of the valley. For more information or to donate to the United Way of the Desert, unitedwayofthedesert. org.
