Apple plans to open a float in Singapore

While the coronavirus forces it to close other stores, Apple has announced plans to open a new Apple Store in Singapore that appears to float in the water.

The new shop, in a futuristic giant orb that lights up the accessories at night, will be on the city-state boardwalk. Apple Marina Bay Sands will be named after the hotel you will be a part of.

Apple writes on its website: “We will soon open the doors of our new store across the bay. Apple Marina Bay Sands will be at the heart of creativity, a position created so you can capture your concepts and passions. Be an area where you can explore, attach and create anything new. We can’t wait to see where the eye of his mind takes him.”

Apple has not yet provided any other official information, such as the number of square footage of the construction or the precise date of its opening. Apple did not respond to CNBC’s request for comment.

Apple already has a store in Singapore on Orchard Road and Singapore’s Changi Airport.

Apple CEO Tim Cook said Singapore “could use a third store” on its scale in the republic last December, adding that the Orchard Road store was “pretty full.”

Apple has many retail outlets around the world that promote iPhones, iPads, Apple watches, Macs and other Apple products.

Last week, Apple became the first U.S. company to achieve a $2 trillion valuation. Sales increased 11% to $59.7 billion in the last quarter despite disruptions caused by coronavirus.
