‘Antifa’ website cited in conservative media attack on Biden is linked to — wait for it — Russia

WASHINGTON — At his press briefing Wednesday, President Trump, as he usually does, called for a question from Chanel Rion, the chief White House correspondent for the conservative One America News network, which has at times replaced Fox News as the president’s favorite news outlet. Rion’s question had nothing to do with COVID-19 or the economic recovery Trump had been boasting about, but instead brought up an obscure website, “antifa.com.”

“I tried to point out some kind of strange situation. In the last hour or so, if you searched” antifa.com “on Google, it would take you directly to Joe Biden’s online page, his official online cross page. — a strange situation, ” said Rion, adding, “We don’t know who this is.”

Rion continued to recommend that he raised “an attractive leadership question” for the former vice president and his vice president, Senator Kamala Harris, a Democrat for California.

“Should Joe Biden, the Democratic Party, Kamala Harris, publicly denounce Antifa as a national terrorist organization?” Rion the president.

It is known why he thought this raised this problem, because there is no evidence that Biden’s crusade had anything to do with “antifa.com”, or vice versa. Instead, the phenomenon cited through Rion had a transparent link with Russia.

People to which one online page can redirect to another, without permission or even without knowledge of the site at the moment. Nothing Rion described would involve direct involvement in Biden’s campaign, which did not respond to a request for comment on the story.

“antifa.com” records in the domain call database Whoisology.com show that the site was registered with the Russian Federation from 2013 until last July. Since last November, the site’s registration has been moved to Panama. The online page has been registered anonymously and its owners may not be contacted for comments.

After a brief redirect to Biden’s page on Wednesday, the site turned dark. Based on copies of the Archive website, it was empty from 2013 to June this year, when it began giving a message about protests that erupted in the United States following the murder of George Floyd. The page read, “We are actively expanding the number of members,” but did not provide any touch data for anyone interested in joining.

“We are Antifa: join us and act,” the note said, adding, “More to come. Re-check the updates and how it can be part of anything that fits the world.”

The U.S. intelligence network has concluded that the Russian government crossed out to interfere in the 2016 election to help Trump and harm his Democratic opponents. This effort included extensive use of misinformation, Kremlin-owned media and social media. U.S. intelligence officials said the Russian government was involved in a similar effort in this year’s race.

“Russian influencers, in particular, are used to online teams secretly magnifying content about protest activities in the United States, adding rhetoric that would possibly seek to incite violence at such events,” the bulletin reads.

Rion’s consultation gave Trump the opportunity to highlight one of his favorite themes of the crusade, Biden’s “far left” stance and, starting this week, Harris. Trump said leftists who protested and carried out acts of vandalism across the country were “part” of Biden’s crusade. While many protesters oppose Trump, not all of them are Biden. “Antifa”, short for “anti-fascist,” is a motion that does not have a transparent organization. Trump then promoted his administration’s efforts to quell the looting and vandalism of protesters with a competitive reaction from federal troops.

“It’s almost a component of his campaign, antifa,” Trump said. “Democrats act like, “Well, I don’t know exactly what it is.” Array… Take a look where you want. Array… They’re everywhere.”

Rion did not respond without delay to a request for comment. His channel, One America News, which was discovered in 2013, is presented as “direct information,” but obviously has a pro-Trump tilt. The channel’s owners reportedly asked staff to advertise Trump and minimize Russian aggression. One of netpainting journalists Kristian Brunovich Rouz painted for Sputnik, an online Russian news page that U.S. intelligence officials saw as a role in the Kremlin’s 2016 election propaganda campaign. A 2017 Yahoo News investigation found that Sputnik’s painters had the particular task of “staying true to the national interest of the Russian Federation.” Rouz’s paintings for One America News have included segments that have falsely connected Democrats with antifa.

Rion has already drawn attention to conspiracy problems and theories. Since March, she has participated in White House briefings challenging social estrangement regulations designed to prevent the spread of coronavirus between the press and staff. Rion said she was explicitly invited to attend through Trump management officials.
