Anthony Fauci says America is “certainly” in COVID-19 pandemic

Dr. Anthony Fauci, the nation’s top infectious disease expert, believes the U. S. is not yet a major problem. UU. se is in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic.

In an interview Sunday on NBC’s Meet the Press, Fauci, who is also President Biden’s top medical adviser, said the United States is “certainly” dealing with the pandemic, even though Biden himself described the pandemic as “over” in September.

“As a public health official, I don’t want to see anyone suffer and die from COVID,” Fauci said. He added that 300 to 400 more people in the U. S. The U. S. government continues to die every day from COVID and noted that less than 15% of other people chose to take the maximum booster from the recent vaccine.

“I think the concept of ‘forget it, it’s over,’ it’s not,” Fauci added.

Fauci also told host Chuck Todd that he was “very concerned” about the state of American politics and, in particular, criticized former Vice President Mike Pence for claiming his reaction to the pandemic was politicized.

“I don’t agree with [Pence], I don’t align with anybody, I’m a doctor, a scientist, a public fitness expert,” Fauci said. “It doesn’t matter if I’m a Democrat or a Republican, I respect the principles of public fitness. “
