MANILA, Philippines – Fifty-two high-level inmates detained in Building 14 of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) have been transferred to the Harry Site, a quarantine facility of the criminal complex that houses inmates or persons disadvantaged from their freedom inflamed by COVID-19.
It houses prisoners, most of whom are convicted drug traffickers.
“Lahat sila positive immediate check for yung iba can lead to mild flu symptoms (all are positive on immediate check, while others have mild flu symptoms),” said BuCor spokesman Gabriel Chaclag.
Chaclag said the detainees had been screened with a swab to verify the presence of the virus.
“Muna sila remoted and na-swab na rin natin. While waiting for the effects of swab na lang,” he added.
NbP hospital registration showed that an immediate verification was performed among 124 LDPs in Building 14.
Of the 124 inmates, 52 were tested and taken to Harry’s site. On November 3, inmates underwent RT-PCR tests or swab tests and are now waiting for the results.
Previously, BuCor showed that high-level detainees had succumbed to COVID-19, adding Jaybee Sebastian.
