MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — As President Joe Biden finalizes the federal emergency declaration for COVID-19 on May 11, the Milwaukee Department of Health also announced upcoming adjustments to its vaccines and sites Friday.
This Friday is the day COVID vaccines will be administered at Menomonee Valley Drive-thru Clinic (2401 W. St. Paul Avenue).
“Adjustments continue due to the expiration of the federal emergency declaration and the termination of the Wisconsin network testing program,” Milwaukee Department of Health spokeswoman Emily Tau said. “Unfortunately, without continued investment and Array, we will have to retire our services. “
As of Monday, April 3, at least 3 clinics will be affected by a renewal in their hours of operation:
Southside Health Center (1639 S. St. )
Northwest Health Center (7630 W. Mill Road)
Keenan Sexual Health Clinic (3200 N. St. )
The branch said April 15 will be the last day the Menomonee Valley COVID-19 test will operate.
Mathew Avenanr told CBS 58 that he won all of his vaccines and is still being tested at the Menomonee Valley site. You don’t know where you’ll have to go once the facility is shut down.
“I get it almost every couple of months just to check,” Avenanr said. “I have two jobs and (the) last thing I want and wish is for someone else, you know, to have COVID or pass it on. “
The Milwaukee Department of Health said it has administered more than 241,000 doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
Dr. Ben Weston, Milwaukee County’s leading fitness policy advisor, said many still want their shots, especially when it comes to boosters.
“In Milwaukee County, only 18 percent of other people have earned their updated retirement,” he said.
Health officials say immediate at-home testing can still be done through the “Say Yes Covid Testing Program” until the end of May.
Rapid antigen tests will be distributed to Milwaukee residents.
