The Caribbean island of Anguilla will avoid requiring COVID-19 before arrival for vaccinated visitors next month.
As of Aug. 8, the island will no longer require vaccinated travelers to be tested before traveling, the Anguilla Tourism Board shared with Travel Leisure. Travelers will want to provide evidence of their vaccination prestige to the airline before checking in for travel, and then arriving in Anguilla and near St. Maarten.
In addition, the island will begin allowing entry of unvaccinated travelers as long as they provide evidence of a negative COVID-19 result prior to arrival.
Currently, Anguilla requires all visitors to be fully vaccinated and welcomes unvaccinated youth under the age of 18 if accompanied by fully vaccinated travelers, according to the tourism office. Lately, vaccinated visitors are also required to provide evidence of negative COVID-19. PCR check performed within 3 days of arrival, or evidence of an immediate negative antigen test performed within two days of arrival.
Anguilla requires further testing on arrival for travelers who have been fully vaccinated within six months or who have gained a booster dose at least 14 days prior to travel. Mixed vaccines are accepted.
Earlier this year, Anguilla stopped requiring fully vaccinated over-18s to apply for permission to enter the island through an online portal.
The British Caribbean island, known for its personal villas and resorts, offers 33 stunning beaches in the Eastern Caribbean. The island enjoys a circular climate almost all year round with a high tourist season from December to mid-April.
Anguilla joins many other Caribbean destinations in relaxing access regulations, adding the British Virgin Islands, which last week stopped requiring travelers to present evidence of a negative COVID-19 check to enter. Several other destinations have also abandoned access regulations in the pandemic era, such as Grenada, Aruba and Bonaire.
