Bucharest: Controversial social media star Andrew Tate was arrested Friday in Romania along with his brother Tristan Tate as part of an investigation into a human trafficking case, Sports Bible, a British sports-focused social media publisher, reported.
The Directorate of Organized Crime and Terrorism Investigations in Bucharest, or DIICOT, is reportedly guilty of preventing the raid.
Citing Romanian media outlet Libertatea, Sport Bible reported that her home was raided on Thursday in connection with the abduction of two girls.
Tate, who is noted for his questionable social media habit, is a former kickboxer with 76 wins and losses in his kickboxing career, according to UK-based Sports Bible.
The social media influencer made headlines recently after having an impassioned discussion with Swedish activist Greta Thunberg on Twitter, which later went viral.
Tate, who is well known for his many misogynistic comments, sparked controversy by tagging Thunberg in a tweet about her 33 cars and their emissions, which contribute to pollution, according to the New York Post.
Speaking to Twitter, Tate wrote: “Hi, @GretaThunberg, I have 33 cars. My Bugatti has a quad turbo w16 8. 0L. My DOS Ferrari 812s from the competition have 6. 5L v12s. This is just the beginning. Please indicate your email address for I can send a complete list of my car collection and their respective mass emissions. “To which Thunberg responded with a scathing blow and wrote “yes, please enlighten me. Email me at smalldickenergy@getalife. com,” he replied in a quote. Pious.
Thunberg’s reaction was well received by many commenters, as they appreciated the influencer’s ridicule for her comment.
Tate has been continually criticized for his comments that women “take responsibility” for being sexually assaulted, denigrating IQ of all genders and comparing women to property, the New York Post reported.
Because of his offensive statements, he banned several social media platforms, adding Instagram and Facebook.
