Amazon has big plans for its drone delivery program, adding overseas expansion to the U. K. and Italy in 2024. The company also intends to start drone operations in a third U. S. city. The U. S. Department of Homeland Security will launch the U. S. Drug Administration next year, following existing efforts in College Station, Texas (where it just began offering drone prescription drug delivery) and Lockeford, California.
Drone deliveries in the UK and Italy will start at one site before expanding to more sites over time. Amazon says it will announce express locations for U. S. expansion. The U. S. , U. K. , and Italy will be released in the coming months.
In addition, Amazon will integrate the Prime Air program into its delivery network. In the U. S. , drones will run out of some same-day delivery sites. By basing drones in those locations and at its larger fulfillment centers in the U. K. and Italy, Amazon says consumers can choose from a wider variety of parts for drone deliveries. So far, Amazon has had committed delivery centers at its first two Prime Air locations.
When the option is available on their domain and they purchase an eligible item that weighs less than five pounds, Amazon consumers can choose to receive the product via drones. This model has twice the diversity of previous drones, while offering greater tolerance to high and low temperatures. The MK30 can also operate in light rain.
