TOKYO (Reuters) – Amazon Japan submitted a plan to the country’s fair industry regulator on how to conduct practices suspected of violating antitrust rules, Asahi Shimbun reported on Friday.
the Amazon.com Inc unit attacked through japan’s Fair Trade Commission in 2018 on suspicion that non-easy suppliers are paying some of the promotional prices for their products with a reduction on the e-commerce giant’s website.
The improvement plan includes a plan for providers who have been forced to pay this “cooperation money,” the paper said.
“Amazon continues to conduct collaborative and constructive discussions with the Fair Trade Commission,” the company said in an email sent Friday in response to the report.
“In the future, we will continue to fulfill the wishes of our suppliers and try to comply with laws and regulations in all regions where Amazon operates,” he said.
Amazon Japan had already under reviewed the regulatory. In an earlier investigation, japan’s Fair Trade Commission found that the company had required suppliers to sell its products on platforms that include them in Amazon Japan at the same price or lower their prices.
Amazon Japan agreed to leave and regulators completed the investigation in 2017.
