Almost doctors died for Covid-19 in Indonesia

YAKARTA: Indonesia has reported 3,737 new cases of Covid-19 in the last 24 hours, bringing the cumulative number of infections in the republic to 210,940.

According to the knowledge published today through the Indonesian government’s Covid-19 website, 88 deaths were reported, bringing the death toll to 8,544.

Jakarta Province recorded the number of positive cases overall with 51,635, an increase of 964 in the last 24 hours.

The governor of Jakarta, Anies Baswedan, on Wednesday the reimposition of large-scale social restrictions (PSBB) from 14 September.

It imposed these restrictions on 31 March and legalized the resumption of socio-economic activities on 5 June. These activities will now be prohibited when the PSBB enters into force.

According to the knowledge of the Jakarta authorities, 67 hospitals in Jakarta now have more than 70% of their capacity.

If the completion of 1,000 new day-consistent instances in Jakarta continues since the end of August, hospitals are expected to reach their maximum capacity on September 17.

Jawa Timur province recorded the death number with 2,717, with 26 deaths in the last 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the Indonesian Medical Association, in a statement, indicated that 109 doctors in Indonesia had died of Covid-19 so far.

Jawa Timur Province has the number of physician deaths at age 29, followed by Sumatera Utara (20), Jakarta (13).
