All dormitories in Singapore were declared free of Covid-19 on 19 August, according to a Ministry of Labour press.

These are the 17 separate blocks in specially constructed bedrooms that serve as insulation or quarantine facilities.

All citizens of the independent blocks terminated their quarantine or were transferred to other government services because of their state of form.

20,000 citizens will be able to return to work

With the newly cleaned bedrooms, another 20,000 citizens are expected to have the access code.

A green code indicates that staff can repaint because their bedrooms have completed the mandatory arrangements to allow the bedrooms to repaint safely.

However, some of those citizens lately have a red password because their addresses are up to date.

Bedroom operators and employers will be reminded to update workers’ addresses accordingly.

Currently, 86%, or 333,000 foreign employees in the construction, navy and procedures (CMP) sectors, has a green code, compared to 81% of August 11.

Overall, about 84%, or 240,000 CMP dormitory citizens, now have a password, compared to 78% on August 11.

In the press release, MOM stated that it expects a proportion of staff to have a code of access red.

This includes reasons such as staff who tested positive or quarantined, as the TraceTogether app was no longer installed on your cellular device and did not undergo Rostered Regime Verification (RRT) when asked to do so.

The goal is to comply with the RRT and involve all cases, with remote contacts drawn on the block or at the bedroom level.

Preventing a wave of infections

On August 12, it was reported that new instances of Covid-19 were detected in cleaned bedrooms in the past.
