Alex Dowsett got rid of the Vuelta a Burgos for fear of coronavirus

Alex Dowsett joined Itamar Einhorn to be eliminated from the Vuelta a Burgos via Israel Start-Up Nation as a precaution after one of the team’s runners tested positive for coronavirus before the race.

Omer Goldstein, who is not in the race, returned a positive check on Monday, but contacted Einhorn before Einhorn went to Burgos, where he left the team and checked in On Monday night.

Israel Start-Up Nation withdrew the race runner, but on Tuesday morning the team also showed that Dowsett would not leave after the British runner contacted Einhorn at the team’s hotel.

Three members were also forced to isolate themselves at the team’s hotel in Burgos, and five runners took the start of the first level on Tuesday.

During the stage, Israel Start-Up Nation issued a number on this issue, indicating that the Einhorn check had come back negative. Dowsett was also reviewed on Monday, but is waiting for the results.

“Even though I’m saddened to see runners miss the race, we had to avoid any threat and take this over-precaution because the effects of control were not achieved in time,” said sports director Oscar Guerrero. “It’s very unfortunate. I’m sorry about the runners.”

Although he couldn’t run, Dowsett was convinced the team had done the right thing.

“It is a great sadness not to have the Return to Burgos. But even the small threat that I would return a positive check to COVID led us to act responsibly and reassuringly for the total platoon, so that everyone would be comfortable. “he says.

Goldstein recently returned to Girona from Israel with a special dispensation. He must resume racing next week, albeit asymptomatic and has since been quarantined. According to the team, Einhorn is the only driver of the team that has been able to make direct contact with Goldstein in Girona.

The Vuelta a Burgos must start on Tuesday with a level of 157 km from the Cathedral of Burgos to the Mirador del Castillo with 153 runners on the starting line.
