Alberta Anti-Trafficking Organization Opens Home for Survivors in Mexico

Not4Sale, operated through Southern Alberta’s Parallel Church, opened its first shelter for survivors of human trafficking in Mexico.

The commission has been seven years in the making and the organization is pleased to see it even though everything is complete.

“A lot of what we’ve done recently has been to identify space in Mexico. It has been a great achievement. And celebrating it this month is very exciting,” said Tanisha Stromberg, director of Not4Sale.

The house accommodates another 10 people at a time and will provide them with resources to help them physically and mentally.

Many patients want to detox after being drugged by their captors.

The first one will be installed soon and will be made up of young girls.

Not4Sale, run by Southern Alberta’s Parallel Church, has opened its first home for survivors of human trafficking in Mexico.

“For now, we’re hoping to have younger women, between the ages of 3 and eight, which is a sad truth because those women are out there and they’re trafficked at such a young age,” said Joy-Lynn Stickel, director of Not4Sale.

Not4Sale also points out that human trafficking is only a challenge in other countries.

The organization has been involved in several rescues of human trafficking victims, including in southern Alberta.

“A lot of other people think they live far away or in the countryside. But the truth is, it’s in our own backyard. And we know other people who have been trafficked in Calgary and Lethbridge and other parts of Alberta,” Stromberg said.

Not4Sale, run by Southern Alberta’s Parallel Church, has opened its first home for survivors of human trafficking in Mexico.

Not4Sale needs to take advantage of the luck of his loan to Mexico.

“We have our eyes set on more homes in Mexico. There’s a lot of need there,” Stickel said.

“We also have our eyes on Africa, and in Canada, here, we’d like to have systems and houses up and running. “
